United Airlines has launched its new MileagePlus Debit Rewards Card, offering an easy way to rack up some extra miles without a hard credit pull.
The Offer:
- Sign-up Bonus: 10,000 United miles
- Spend Requirement: $500 within the first 120 days of account opening.
Card Highlights:
- Earning Rates: 1 mile per $1 spent on United purchases; 1 mile per $2 spent on all other eligible purchases.
- Monthly Fee: $4. (Waived if you maintain a $2,000 average monthly balance).
- No Credit Impact: Because it’s a debit card (issued by Sunrise Banks), applying won’t affect your credit score.
- Extra Perks: You can earn up to 70,000 miles annually ($50,000+) based on your average daily balance, plus a 2,500-mile bonus each calendar year if you hit $10,000 in spending.
The Verdict:
If you can float $2,000 in the account to avoid the monthly fee, this is a very straightforward 10K miles for minimal spend.
Since it operates as a debit card, it also opens up a great avenue for paying expenses – that normally require a debit card or hit you with high credit card processing fees like income taxes or large utility bills – while still earning rewards, which most debit cards don’t give.
