The Ultimate Tech Gamble: Are You Brave Enough for a Mystery Computer?

Okay, this is actually really funny. I was browsing Woot today and stumbled upon something that feels like the ultimate tech roulette: Mystery Computers.
We’re all used to the legendary “Bag of Crap” (BOC) boxes where you throw a few bucks at a mystery and usually end up with… well, c***. But this? A computer is a whole other ball game.
Here is the deal currently live on the site:
- Mystery Laptops ranging from $229.99 – $249.99.
- MSI Mystery Desktops (Factory Reconditioned) are going for $269.99 – $509.99.
I am seriously debating this.
Here’s my take: It’s Woot (an Amazon company), so they aren’t going to scam you. You’re definitely going to get a computer worth the money value-wise. The problem is, it just might not be the type of value you wanted. You could be hoping for a sleek productivity machine and end up with a bulky gaming rig, or vice versa.
The sale ends January 25 at 12 AM CT, so the clock is ticking on my decision-making.
So, here is the question: Is anyone else willing to gamble? What could possibly go wrong (besides everything)?
Let me know what you think in the comments. And if you actually pull the trigger on one of these, you have to come back and tell us what you got. I need to know if you hit the jackpot or just got a really expensive paperweight!
