Update: Gold Days of Grubhub+ is launching, including $50 off $100+ on grocery orders powered by Instacart every Saturday and Sunday in May, a $0.90/month membership for 6 months, and other restaurant deals as well from May 1 through May 31.

Original 1/1/26: This is a new one – and it’s actually pretty solid.

A friend and I just discovered that you can now order Instacart directly through the Grubhub app. If you have Grubhub+ (which is easier to obtain than Instacart+), delivery is free, and there are some very strong launch promotions available right now.

Here’s the full breakdown 👇

Free Delivery (How This Works)

If you have Grubhub+, Instacart orders placed through Grubhub get free delivery.

May make sense to get Prime and Grubhub+ rather than Instacart+ (Unless you’re looking for some Peacock benefit)

Current Promos (This Is the Big Win)

Because Instacart on Grubhub is new, they’re running exclusive promos:

40% off Promo

  • $40 minimum
  • Max discount: $20
  • Works on any Instacart store through Grubhub

30% off Promo

  • Works on 3 orders
  • $75 minimum
  • Up to $30 off each order

Note: These promos are NOT Grubhub promos – they’re Instacart-via-Grubhub only, meaning:

  • You cannot use regular Grubhub promo codes
  • These can’t be used on other GrubHub orders and are better than most offers on Instacart directly. (Unless you have some chase cards, but that isn’t for everybody)

Fees & Pricing (Compared to Instacart+)

  • The interface looks almost identical to Instacart
  • Service fee may be ~$1 higher
  • Still often cheaper than paying for Instacart+ outright

Especially helpful if:

  • You don’t pay for Instacart+
  • You wish to redeem current or future promotions, even if you have an Instacart+ account linked to a Chase card.

Costco Memberships (Store loyalty Connection)

  • You can add your Costco membership (or other store memberships) and get member pricing, stacked with no delivery fee and paying just a small service fee.

Gift Cards

  • It does NOT connect to your existing Instacart account. So any Instacart credits or promos will not carry over.
  • Since it’s the Instacart interface, it seems to allow new Instacart gift cards to be applied (worth testing).

No Instacart Account? No Problem

Even if you don’t have an Instacart account at all, this will work for you, and there is no Instacart account linking as it works entirely off your Grubhub account.

So no, you don’t finally have to make an Instacart account (Phew, for some people, but ookk). Which also means: Everyone should be eligible to use the Grubhub x Instacart new user promotions above.

Charging, Coding & Credit Card Notes

  • Orders appear to be charged as Instacart, similar to how Uber Eats orders on the Instacart platform are coded as Uber Eats.
  • This may affect Chase Offers, category bonuses, and merchant-specific promos

So keep that in mind, depending on which card you use.

Bottom Line

If you have Amazon Prime or grab 1 year of Grubhub+ free, and want Instacart-style grocery delivery, ordering Instacart through Grubhub is a no-brainer right now, especially with the 40% or 30% promos.

Check your GrubHub app for the “Grocery” or “Instacart” tab to see if you are targeted for the promos!
