DEAL ALERT: Get 40% Off Instacart Orders via GrubHub!
This is a new one – and it’s actually pretty solid.
A friend and I just discovered that you can now order Instacart directly through the Grubhub app. If you have Grubhub+, delivery is free, and there are some very strong launch promos right now.
Here’s the full breakdown 👇
Free Delivery (How This Works)
If you have Grubhub+, Instacart orders placed through Grubhub get free delivery.
- FREE with Amazon Prime
- Or Grubhub is currently offering 1 year free for anyone to try it. It can be found on the website/app.
- If you tried it already and you’re a New Yorker, you can get another year free here
If you already have Prime, this is basically unlocked already.
Current Promos (This Is the Big Win)
Because Instacart on Grubhub is new, they’re running exclusive promos:
40% off Promo
- $40 minimum
- Max discount: $20
- Works on any Instacart store through Grubhub
30% off Promo
- Works on 3 orders
- $75 minimum
- Up to $30 off each order
Note: These promos are NOT Grubhub promos – they’re Instacart-via-Grubhub only, meaning:
- You cannot use regular Grubhub promo codes
- These can’t be used on other GrubHub orders, and are better than most offers on Instacart directly.
Fees & Pricing (Compared to Instacart+)
- The interface looks identical to Instacart
- Service fee may be ~$1 higher (Sometimes less)
- Still often cheaper than paying for Instacart+ outright, since GrubHub+ is easy & more worthwhile to get, as mentioned above.
Especially helpful if:
- You don’t pay or have Instacart+, or even if you have Instacart+ (for example, due to Chase cards), but you wish to redeem current or future promotions, or once your Chase benefit expires.
Costco Memberships & Gift Cards
- You can add your Costco membership and get member pricing with no delivery fee, paying just a small service fee.
Important notes:
- It does NOT connect to your existing Instacart account. So any Instacart credits or promos will not carry over.
- Since it’s the Instacart interface, it seems to allow Instacart gift cards to be applied (worth testing)
No Instacart Account? No Problem
Even if you don’t have an Instacart account at all, this works the same way.
There’s no account linking, which actually means:
- Everyone should have the same promotions without any eligibility requirements or the need for a separate Instacart account.
Charging, Coding & Credit Card Notes
- Orders appear to be charged as Instacart, similar to how Uber Eats orders on the Instacart platform are coded as Uber Eats.
- This may affect Chase Offers, category bonuses, and merchant-specific promos
So keep that in mind, depending on which card you use.
Bottom Line
If you have Amazon Prime or grab 1 year of Grubhub+ free, and want Instacart-style grocery delivery, ordering Instacart through Grubhub is a no-brainer right now, especially with the 40% or 30% promos.
Check your GrubHub app for the “Grocery” or “Instacart” tab to see if you are targeted for the promos!
