Update: Exclusive BankAmeriDeals Merchant Offers for BofA Rewards Members, Auto-Activating Deals, and Upgraded Offers
There are a few major developments to add regarding the BankAmeriDeals platform:
First, the biggest upgrade to the platform is the introduction of highly exclusive, top-tier BankAmeriDeals reserved specifically for BofA Rewards members. Bank of America has just rolled out an entirely new BofA Rewards system that replaces Preferred Rewards. They introduced a tier that includes everyone as well, meaning pretty much all Bank of America account holders can enroll. (This is a separate program from the standard BankAmeriDeals setup discussed below.)
A few current standouts include:
- Uber Eats: $15 off a $25+ order.
- AT&T Wireless: $50 off a $65+ charge.
- AT&T Fiber: $50 off a $55+ charge.
The best part? Once you activate these offers, they apply seamlessly across both your eligible debit and credit cards, so you have the flexibility to use whichever card you prefer to trigger the statement credit.
Another big improvement is the rollout of auto-activating offers. You will see self-activated deals marked with a special icon, meaning you don’t even need to click to opt in. Across the board, BofA is noticeably stepping up its game, offering increasingly lucrative deals as they try to lure in and retain customers. It is definitely a program you want to keep checking.
There is still one persistent caveat to the experience: the interface still lacks an “All Deals” view. You cannot simply scroll down a master list of every available offer; everything is still strictly split by section and category.
Despite that lingering navigational hurdle, these are fantastic developments for maximizing your cash back. Have fun!
January 15 12:48 pm: Bank of America has been teasing a “Countdown” feature promising a new merchant offers experience. The teaser promised a refreshed, dynamic experience with smarter savings and a more tailored feel.
The countdown is over. Bank of America has officially launched its “BankAmeriDeals Reimagined” update.
I’ve spent some time with the new dashboard (launched Today), and the verdict is mixed: savings are better, but the user experience has changed.
Here is my hands-on review.
The “New Look”: Modern, But Maybe Too “Big”
The first thing you notice is the sheer size of everything. The new interface is organized and modern, with larger text, icons, and a visual feel.
However, this comes at a cost:
- Loss of Scannability: The old version was compact, letting you quickly scan dozens of offers. Now, the “dynamic” cards make it harder to scan the page.
- Screen Real Estate: While large visuals and fewer columns at once are nice for casual users, they feel less efficient for power users having to scroll a lot through useless deals.
The Tech: Native App vs. Browser
One of the most jarring changes is how the page actually loads. Previously, BankAmeriDeals felt snappy because it loaded natively within the BofA app.
Deals now load in a separate browser page (like Capital One offers), rather than staying in the native interface (like Chase & Amex Offers). This makes the whole experience feel slightly slower and disconnected from the rest of the banking app.
Navigation & The “View All” Problem
The new Categories feature is well-structured, making it easier to filter for specific categories like Dining or Retail. This is helpful now when there are many (sometimes irrelevant) offers, and the icons are large with few columns, but still feels kind of clunky overall.
But there is a major UI flaw:
There’s no way to view all offers on the homepage. To get a master list, you have to select a category on the side panel, then scroll down to see all offers + you can also filter by letter (which is great too), or uncheck the category filter to see everything. This is an unnecessary friction point. They’ll likely fix it once there are fewer clunky, random dining offers.
There’s no way to filter offers by type (on-card, link, save now), making it confusing to find the best type of offer.
The Offers: Finally, Real “Card-Linked” Deals!
Despite the UI complaints, the updated content is a massive improvement.
- Amex/Chase Style Offers: We’re finally getting on-card offers and many more merchants, which compete more with Amex and Chase. Although not as good, they’re similar to Citi’s small offers, but a big step up.
- Examples: Right out of the gate, I’m seeing some offers from Lululemon, CVS, and Dunkin.
- Dining Focus: If you eat out often, there is a huge margin of dining options.
- Goodbye “Link-Only” Deals? The old version was cluttered with “Must Use Link” shopping portal offers, which were annoying to use. The new version seems to still have these mixed in with the new on-card offers, but aren’t clearly separated or have a filter option for them. You’ll notice if there is a “+” icon on the offer or not.
The Verdict
The “Reimagined” BankAmeriDeals is a classic case of “Better Content, Worse Container.”
The move to legitimate, card-linked offers (similar to Amex Offers) is exactly what users wanted. But the shift to a slow, browser-based interface with poor scannability makes it harder to actually find and go through those great deals. I would much rather the old interface with the new deals, or at least with less “dynamism”.
My Advice: While the “new look” is nice, the real value will come down to whether the algorithm actually targets retailers we shop at every day. Take the time to filter through – the UI is annoying, but it might be worth the scrolling.
