YouTube Privacy Settlement – Claim Money for Children’s Data Tracking

There’s a new $30 million class action settlement against Google and YouTube over claims that they illegally tracked and collected personal data from children under 13 without parental consent between July 1, 2013 and April 1, 2020.

Google denies wrongdoing, but if your child (or you, if under 13 at the time) watched kids’ content on YouTube during that period, you may be eligible for payment.

Who Is Eligible:

You qualify if:

You or your child were under 13 years old at any time from July 1, 2013 – April 1, 2020

You or your child watched YouTube content directed to children in the United States

Important Deadlines:

Submit a Claim: January 21, 2026
This is the only way to receive payment.

Exclude Yourself / Object: December 8, 2025
Excluding lets you sue Google separately; objecting allows you to tell the court you disagree with the settlement.

Court Hearing: January 13, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PT via Zoom

What You’ll Get:
Payments will come from a $30 million fund after court approval and any appeals. The amount per claimant depends on the total number of approved claims.

How to File a Claim:
You can file online – only one claim per eligible person.

Submit a Claim Form

Bottom line:
If you or your child watched YouTube before 2020, it’s worth checking if you qualify. The deadline to claim is January 21, 2026.
