How to Get Up to 50% Off Amazon with Just 714 Amex Point
Here’s an awesome money-hack: using just 714 American Express Membership Rewards (MR) points to unlock a major Amazon discount.
Here’s how this works, why it’s such a sweet deal, and how you can check whether you’re eligible.
What’s the Deal?
- This is a targeted offer from Amex/Amazon. Not everyone gets the same deal.
- The offer shows up when you use your Amex card to pay with MR points (“Shop with Points”) at Amazon checkout.
- To trigger the discount, you usually have to redeem at least 714 MR points, which is $5 of points.
- Once activated, you’ll get a %-off credit applied at checkout:
- Some people report 15% off (max $15) – that’s what I got.
- Others report 40% off (max $60) or 50% off (max $80).
- The savings are applied before taxes and fees.
- You can now buy items sold by 3rd party sellers and shipped by Amazon.
Why This Is Such a Good Value
This promo gives you a bang for essentially free (or for bad redemption value on a few points).
You don’t need to redeem a lot of points – After that, it’s like Amazon is giving you a coupon.
Note: MR points on Amazon usually have low redemption value, so use exactly what’s needed to unlock the promo. More isn’t better here.
How to Check If You’re Eligible
- 1. Link your Amex card (that earns Membership Rewards) to Amazon, if you haven’t already.
- 2. Visit the Amex offer page on Amazon while logged in.
- 3. If the offer is available to you, activate it.
- 4. Add eligible items to your cart.
- 5. At checkout, choose to pay with Membership Rewards points – make sure to redeem 714 points (or the minimum your version of the offer requires).
- 6. You should then see a line item that shows the discount (before taxes/fees).
My Experience
I got the 15% / $15 version, not as juicy as 50%, but still a solid savings.
The discount automatically showed up clearly at checkout before I hit “place order.”
It worked perfect for the Airpods 4 with noise cancellation!

Final Thought
If you have Amex Membership Rewards points and you’re an active Amazon shopper, this is a no brainer. Even with the 15% version, you’re getting more value than you normally would at Amazon.
